Takoyaki market vendor, Shinji Mizuno, Golden Balls provides the local Mount Maunganui Market crowd with a unique glimpse into traditional Japanese street food.

Inspired by personal travel to Japan, I was able to help Shinji create an authentic identity for Golden Balls, one  that communicated the vibrancy of Osaka and bold collision of cultures.

The bold Logotype and hero titles were designed to reference Japanese Culture Magazine Popeye, while the Illustration  tips its hat to both Takoyaki’s more traditional Octopus based protein and the unique bottle lid of the kewpie mayo.

Just like Takoyaki itself, Golden Balls was designed to be quick and easy to visually digest.
